Bombilla is a metal straw with a filter on the bottom, used to drink the mate, a typical drink of South America.
Here's how to use it:
Prepare the Mate: fill the Calabaza, a cup or a small bowl, with dry mate herbs, filling it for about 3/4 of its capacity.
Insert the bombilla: insert the bombilla into the Mate through the open side. Make sure that the filter on the bottom of the bombilla does not touch the bottom of the Calabaza.
Add the hot water: pour the hot water on the empty part of the Calabaza and wait for the mate herbs to absorb water. Do not use boiling water, because it can burn herbs and affect the taste.
Drink the Mate: drink the mate from the bombilla positioned inside the Calabaza. Ask the water through the bombilla, making sure the filter does not block the drink.
Fill the mate with hot water: after drinking the mate, fill the Calabaza again with hot water to continue drinking.
Repeat this process until mate herbs are no longer able to absorb water. When this happens, it will be necessary to replace the herbs of mate with others fresh.
